Geschichten von der Heilewelt - a blog for music lovers

"It is wonderful to be able experience art without understanding how it was meant or what makes it good." (Kim Boekbinder said that during an interview I did with her) I might not have the biggest knowledge about music but I have a great passion for it. Passion is what counts.

I live in Berlin, Germany (born, raised and still resident) and this is my personal blog about music and other things that cross my way. Things I love to be exact. And even though I am German and my English is still not perfect, this blog is in English.

Peter Broderick ”proposed solution to the mystery of the soul”

Peter Broderick is fascinating. I have just seen him playing a few songs with Nils Frahm in an hotel lobby a few days ago. It was a announced on a very short notice. It has been amazing. I like the way Broderick play and improvises musically (and even though there was Frahm, Tatu - the new drummer of Efterklang, hopefully spelled correctly - and Sarah Neufeld, I enjoyed him the most). There is this huge joy he seems to have playing music and you know, all of a sudden he starts to rap a few words of “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”. This song “Proposed Solution To The Mystery Of The Soul” is from the album “These Walls Of Mine” which in itself is amazing - Broderick is experimenting with vocals and vocal related sounds or sounds he can produce using his mouth with inspiration drawn from genres like rap, Hip Hop and soul. And he uses his loop station to create wonderful sounds. I very much enjoy his experiments. I remember how surprised I was by the album when I heard it the first time.

This song is a working song for me, a bit like a gospel but in a Broderick way. Layers of his voice, loops and the sound of metal clashing. The video was just published and I happened to have a good timing and immediately wanted to share it. Keeping it short tonight. Just open your mind and let Peter fill it. I have got to go to sleep now.

Good night,

Dörte

P.S. Another reason I do have some sort of connection to him is that he had been the first artist I interviewed solely for my blog. It’s still a good read.
